Why Bet On Cheap Lotteries?
Here at Lottoland we are proud to offer lotteries of all shapes and sizes from all four corners of the globe. These lotteries come in all shapes and sizes, with various formats, ways to win and payout amounts.
These lotteries also have a wide range of prices, but the good news is that lower prices do not always mean lower payouts! In fact, one of the best bets on our list holds the record for the biggest European payout of all time!
Betting on cheaper lotteries could open up a range of options for you. If you usually bet on one lotto a week, spending R50, you could instead spend the same amount but betting on multiple lotteries in different countries. More entries not only give you more draws to look forward to, but also more chances to win.
What Is The Cheapest Lottery Ticket?
The eleven most affordable lotto’s available at Lottoland hail from three different continents, with seven different countries represented. Let’s find out which lottery is the cheapest, starting with a trip to Poland!

The Polish Winners
Poland is the proud parent of two entries on our list, and its Mini-Lotto is the cheapest European Lotto! Coming in at just R10, this little lotto is drawn daily and can score you a tidy payout of just over R1.9 million. The Mini-Lotto’s big brother, the Polish Lotto, comes in at number 6 on our list, costing just R20. It is not only one of the cheapest lotto bets in the world, but it also has one of the shortest odds of winning at slightly under 14 million to one.
South African Double!
A little bit closer to home, our very own Lotto and Powerball are tied for first on our affordable lotto list. These lotto’s are just R5, and the Powerball is responsible for nine of the ten biggest lotto payouts in South African history!
Brazilian Triplets
First up from the samba land is the Lotofácil. This budget offering from Brazil is priced at just R12, but its record payout is over R666 million! The Brazil Quina is the second of three entries from the samba nation. The Quina is the same price as the Polish Lotto, but it has the added benefit of being drawn six times a week. The Mega-Sena is the final entry from Brazil in sixth place, with a price of R24. Although it is only R9 more expensive than the Quina, the record payout is many times higher at 1 BILLION rand!
From Madrid to Berlin
The German Lotto is eighth on our list, but some changes in the future may make it an even more interesting bet. Currently the maximum payout is R875 million, but in November this will rise to R970 million!
Neighbouring Austria is next up, costing just R5 more the German equivalent. However, the Austrian Lotto offers a much higher chance of hitting a payout. In fact, its payout rate of 1 in 12 is amongst the best in the world!
We visit Spain and Italy to round of our list. The Sunday Lotto, based on Spain’s El Gordo de la Primitiva, is a weekly lotto with one of the highest minimum top payouts in Europe – around R97 million!
Meanwhile, the final entry on our list produced one of the largest payouts of all time – and it only costs R40! The Superlotto, which we base on the SuperEnalotto, once went two years without crowning a winner. Then, one chilly February evening the top prize was finally hit and over R7billion was paid out!
